We are sparking something awesome, and we need your help to make it a reality!
As founders of Tinkering School, The Institute for Applied Tinkering and Brightworks, 10 years of Tinkering experience has shown us that kids can build anything, and through building, learn anything.
We've developed a way to give children affordable access to the problem-solving skills, knowledge and confidence that tinkering enables through a line of Tinkering Labs "Catalysts" and we are crowdfunding the final phase of commercialization with an IndieGoGo Campaign. Why do we need your help?
We’ve tested our first Catalyst, the "Electric Motors Catalyst", with countless kids (see videos below), from the Boys and Girls’ Club to Girl Scout troops to schools around the San Francisco Bay Area, and created a series of “Challenge Cards” to help kickstart imaginations, but every time we put our product in front of kids they create things we never even knew were possible.
We aim to take this movement worldwide, and we can’t do it without your help. We need to reach our crowdfunding goal in order to purchase parts in bulk and set up fulfillment and mailing services.
The Impact
If you can, please support our IndieGoGo campaign today. You’ll be helping create the next generation of competent, resilient people who can face any obstacle with the knowledge that perseverance and critical thinking can solve just about any problem.
With your support, Tinkering Labs Catalysts can give kids an affordable, authentic Tinkering experience, challenge their minds, and fire up their curiosity. Not to mention let them make some pretty cool stuff. But it’s not just about making things. It’s about awakening possibility. It’s about perseverance and problem-solving.
Kids face all kinds of tough obstacles, and at Tinkering Labs, we say, “Bring it on.” We don’t tell kids what’s possible, we ask them to show us what is possible. We give them permission to create freely. Tinkering Labs kids don’t shy away from problems, they tackle them with creativity and confidence. There’s nothing Tinkering Labs kids can’t do—only things they can’t do yet.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can’t contribute, that doesn’t mean you can’t help! Please tell your friends and share our mission on social media using IndieGoGo’s sharing tools. If you know a reporter or blogger, please ask them to cover the story. Tell your schools, scout troops, and summer camps. Tell your parents and your in-laws. Tell your employer, and see if they will sponsor a Tinkering session for your kids’ school or an underfunded one.

Help us shout it from the rooftops and bring the love of Tinkering to kids worldwide.
Thank you for your support.
